Added to our pre-owned collection today is a rare Springfield Armory Model 1911. Carrying serial number 83227, this sought-after United States service pistol is dated from 1914.
.45 ACP, 5 inch SA barrel, large diamond walnut grips. The pistol has been refinished at some stage by a previous owner.
Springfield Armory, two tone lanyard loop magazine has the distinctive Springfield folded base. The right side of the slide is marked with the Spread Eagle/Shield behind the ejection port and “MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY” ahead of it. The opposite side of the slide is marked with 1897-1911 patent dates over “COLT’S PT.F.A.MFG CO” in a three line block followed by: “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY / U.S.A.” in two lines. The Ordnance ‘Shell and Flame’ insignia (flaming bomb) is stamped behind the slide. Barrel link is marked with the correct small “P” on right side and “P” on the other side. Hammer is long pattern with sharp edge. Condition is very fine with 90% of re-blued finish remaining with some wear on the sharp edges. Very good example of a rare Springfield Armory 1911.
Purchase includes an original WAR PLANS DIVISION, MAY 1918 MANUAL “Automatic Pistol Caliber .45”.
