For many, Arthur W. Savage’s lever gun is considered “the king of whitetail rifles”. While the Winchester Model 1894, usually in .30-30, was ubiquitous in the deer woods, the Savage option was often the choice among hunters. Its rotary box magazine gave the rifle the ballistic advantage of being able to shoot pointed bullets. It was also tough enough to handle high-powered cartridges using smokeless powder.
This example with serial number 369571 is a pre-1946 model manufactured in Utica, NY. Takedown frame. Rear peep sight. Checkered Schnabel tip forend. Checkered pistol grip with cap.
Some marring and dings consistent with the rifle’s age and normal usage. Bore shows crisp rifling.
