Presented for sale today is a Turnbull-restored Colt Model 1911. Bearing “MODEL OF 1911. U.S. NAVY” (serifed) nomenclature, along with serial number 5097, this rare service pistol is dated from the year 1912. Turnbull Restoration performed the work in the summer of 2016.
The firearm’s restoration work included period-correct 1912 high-polish finish and restoration of original markings. Barrel was replaced and fitted by Turnbull Restoration. Thumb safety and slide stop were replaced with period-correct examples and fitted by Turnbull Restoration. Frame, slide and parts were finished in period-correct charcoal blue. Grips are hand-checkered walnut double diamond reproduction grips. Magazine is a restored type 2 keyhole, polished and finished in period-correct style.
