Terry Romans –
I use this on my 1886 475 Turnbull and my Turnbull 1886 45-70. I use the Trijicon RMR 1MOA on both 86’s. Trijicon makes an adaptor plate for the Doctor (Same footprint as the Burris) allowing the RMR to be used on this mount. Works great for those middle aged eyes and the 1 MOA dot is nice for longer shots. Never had a problem with the mount even on tough B.C. grizzly hunts.

Thanks for the tip, Terry! A lot of people do ask about using different sights with this mount. Glad it’s working well for you!

This RMR adapter plate for Docter mounts from Trijicon (Trijicon Item/Part# RM 37) facilitates the mounting of a Trijicon RMR sight to a Docter MS10, MS15, or MS39 mount. The Burris Fast Fire mount is the same footprint as the the Doctor. The part they need is referenced above. IMO the Trijicon is a much more robust and field tested red dot sight. The kit comes with a sealing plate for the Trijicon, however I prefer the one manufactured from BattleWerks. It has a hump that keeps pressure on the battery, thus keeping positive pressure applied to prevent any battery movement during recoil. Hope this helps those of us with older eyesight that makes open sights…….well……. “hood ornaments”.,
Terry
Guy –
Hi guys. I have a 30-30 model 94 top ejector and I’m after this set up. Appreciated if anyone knew the parts numbers for adapter for the red dot to sit on as well as a good red dot 1 MOA
Sara Turnbull (verified owner) –
Hi Guy,
This mount should work for you without any adapter. As long as your rifle is drilled and tapped you’ll be able to attach this and then put the Burris FastFire or Docter sight on the mount.
Matt –
What about a mount for the Trijicon MRO?
Sara Turnbull (verified owner) –
Hi Matt,
I’m not sure if the Trijicon MRO would work with this mount; we’ve specifically designed it for the Burris FastFire and Docter Optics.
John price –
Will this mount work on a Browning model 71
Sara Turnbull (verified owner) –
Hi John,
Yes, this mount will work on a Browning 71 as well as the Winchester 1886 and 71.
Thanks,
Sara
Rob –
Will this work on a Browning model 1895? I know the Williams FP 71 fits an 86, 71 and 95.
Sara Turnbull (verified owner) –
Hi Rob,
I’m not sure if it will fit. If you would like to purchase it and try it you can always return it for a refund, less $5 shipping and handling, if it doesn’t work out.
Thanks,
Sara
Scott Welsh –
I am guessing by the location of the attachment screws an 1886 would need to be drilled and tapped?
Turnbull Restoration –
Yes, if your receiver is not already drilled and tapped by the factory. Modern examples are already drilled and tapped.
Bob Irving –
Hi guys, Will this mount work with my Trijicon SRO? Or is an adapter required? Thanks!
Sara Turnbull (verified owner) –
Hi Bob,
If you have a Trijicon, then you’ll want this mount: https://www.turnbullrestoration.com/gun/red-dot-mount-trijicon-rmr-holosun-winchester-71-1886-receiver/
Thanks,

pat –
I have a cimmaron model 71. will the mount work? Thanks It is a 348 winchester.
Sara Turnbull (verified owner) –
Hi Pat,
Yes, it should work on your rifle as long as it’s appropriately drilled & tapped.
Thanks,
Sara
