Added to our showroom today is a Colt Single Action Army Revolver with factory letter. This example was shipped in 1899, and we had the pleasure of restoring it in 2000.
Metal restoration included period-correct polish of all parts. The frame and hammer were color case hardened in the original bone charcoal fashion. The trigger, screws and pins were nitre blued, while the grip frame, barrel and other small parts were charcoal blued. The black hard rubber grips are period-correct reproductions.
Revolver shows light handling marks from normal usage since its restoration in 2000.
NOTE: while the revolver’s frame is of the “smokeless powder” variety, the rifling indicates that the barrel was meant to handle only black powder loads.
