Plan On Making Some New Memories: A New Year’s Greeting
A hunting trip may only be a few days in the woods. With any luck you’ll bring back some great memories, a few tall tales, and some meat for the freezer. But the hunting trip is about a lot more than those few days in the woods.
Levergun Ram: Dall Sheep Hunting in the Brooks Range
I have a love/hate relationship with sheep hunting. To me, sheep hunting is about getting wrapped up in the experience. I love the beautiful mountains to the west, smelling the crisp air. I love the Alaskan country: Seeing the mountains, moose, bear, and eagles. But there’s also the hate part: 6-9 months spent getting into shape for climbing the mountains with a 50-60 pound pack, sleeping in a small tent, trying to stay warm and dry, and eating freeze-dried meals. Somehow none of that’s enough to keep me away. At the end of the day—exhausted, cold, and wet—nothing beats the experience of hunting a Dall sheep in the Alaskan wilderness.

The Best Christmas Present Isn’t Always the One You Wished For
I started working at Turnbull Restoration about a year ago, but of course I’ve been part of the family my whole life. Doug is my father, and over the years I’ve overheard and half-listened to dozens of stories about his childhood, his family, the hunts he went on, and the experiences he had growing his business. The stories really began to accumulate when I started working here, and I felt like I wanted to find a way to get them down on paper and share them with people who I knew would also be interested in them. Thus the idea for our blog interview series was born!
My Firearm Is Fire-damaged. What Do I Do Now?
Fires are one of the most devastating things that can happen to our families and our homes. When the fire has died down and it’s time to sort through the ashes, what do you do with your fire-damaged firearms?
Doug’s September 2018 Air Adventures
Doug Turnbull is taking to the skies once again. Taking off on the weekend of 9/15, Doug’s aviation adventure will take him from Bloomfield, NY to the Texas STOL Roundup in Hondo, TX and back again. Doug’s headed to the Roundup to take part in the action and to give away an engraved STOL Aircraft Magazine Turnbull Marlin 1895 (photo below). And he’ll visit lots of friends and historic sites along the way. The coolest part is that you can follow his journey on Facebook and through a special GPS tracker website page!
