Congratulations to Doug Turnbull and his 1946 Piper PA-12. His trusty bird received the Best Back Country Custom Classic award during the recent 2022 SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo in Lakeland, Florida. Doug and his plane were also recognized during the Aircraft Judging Awards Banquet held on the Saturday evening during the event.

Many thanks go out to Steve Johnson and SuperCub.org for hosting Doug Turnbull’s presentation and talk “The Fjords of Labrador and Quebec”. Doug was this week’s featured speaker on SuperCub.org’s Hump Day Hangover Presentations. Taking advantage of remote video chat technology, Doug put together a fascinating talk and photo diary of his 2019 air trip to Quebec’s Torngat Mountain region.
Doug’s September 2018 Air Adventures
Doug Turnbull is taking to the skies once again. Taking off on the weekend of 9/15, Doug’s aviation adventure will take him from Bloomfield, NY to the Texas STOL Roundup in Hondo, TX and back again. Doug’s headed to the Roundup to take part in the action and to give away an engraved STOL Aircraft Magazine Turnbull Marlin 1895 (photo below). And he’ll visit lots of friends and historic sites along the way. The coolest part is that you can follow his journey on Facebook and through a special GPS tracker website page!
